Peace in the Middle East

They’ll rewrite it to say Netanyahu was right.  They are already rewriting it.  They have already rewritten it.  They are already glorifying the release of the poor Israeli hostages as a great war victory.  Trump is gloating about his midnight hammer. Hiding his erection whilst reminiscing about bombing Iran.  To a hammer everything looks like a nail right, as sure as every teenage girl looks like a seduction as long as you don’t linger long after the deed.  Every nail is dead as a door.  Praise to the billionaire buddies of Trump in West Jerusalem, brandishing their newly sharpened steak knives to carve up Gollum Heights.  ‘Are the steak knives free? They ask.  They didn’t become billionaires by not being stingy.
The western media covers this half of the story, omitting the Palestinian prisoners that are left languishing in Israeli prisons, languishing in silence, languishing because they are silent, languishing to keep us all silent. They will omit the number of Palestinian prisoners being released in Gaza, omitting how many of them were medical staff.  Omitting the suffering of two million people in Gaza because that would cause a PR problem, as we watch the newly Jewish Ivanka Trump swing her straight yellow barbie like hair.  We want to talk about winning a war to create peace.  Palestinian suffering doesn’t fit the narrative, it never did. It definitely won’t now.

The sane amongst us are outraged of course, Fawning over the release of a few Israeli hostages whilst ignoring the suffering in Gaza is beyond humiliating, it’s disgusting, it is horrifying, inhumane and sickening and it’s completely unsurprising.  It’s hard to downplay two years of a livestreamed genocide, unless you work for the Western media, and therefore the suffering is trivial and to state otherwise is antisemitic. Maybe we should all convert like Ivanka and become as pure as snow.  Polite claps for the war criminals.  Golden skeletons hidden in the golden closets.  There’s plenty of rubble to hide the beloved bodies. There’s plenty of closets for the white house. Settlers are still burning houses down in the West Bank, but no bombing means peace.  Peace is quietly sifting through the rubble, if they don’t fine the body of their family members, they might be able to find a mattress to sleep on.  The thing they will not find under the rubble is a Western media outlet that gives a shit.

They’ll rewrite to say Netanyahu was right.  The war criminal was right all along.  His plan was planned; his plan was noble.  He wasn’t a war criminal perpetuating a genocide for his own political purposes as the cynical journalists were saying.  Now we can legitimately kowtow to the king of consistency.  He said the war would end when the hostages were returned, and it has. Every ceasefire agreement that Israel rejected in the last two years was a result of hand tying and string pulling and nothing to do with politics.  Netanyahu wanted peace all along.

Trump told the Israeli Prime Minister to pardon Netanyahu.  He’s a saint, and misunderstood Angel.  Angels talk about war, and winning, and Victory.  Read Deuteronomy.  You wouldn’t hold an Angel to account.  You wouldn’t ask an Angel for proper compensation for the damages inflicted on Gaza, in Lebanon, in Yemen, in Syria.  You wouldn’t ask an Angel to end the occupation and dismantle an illegal apartheid state.  You wouldn’t ask an Angel to follow international law.  You wouldn’t hold an Angel to account for being abused emotionally and physically in an Israeli prison without charge for years.  ‘War is over’ as Trump states.  Talk about winning.  Talk about a victory.  Trump is a wizard.

It must be bittersweet to praise the Wizard Trump whilst standing on the rubble where your house once stood, remembering the school, the markets, the universities, the hospitals, the museums, the libraries, the churches and the mosques.  Humbling to praise the wizard who not 8 months ago was advocating for ethnic cleansing and wanted to build a Riviera on the buried bodies. Humbling to praise a ceasefire deal which is vague, but incompatible with international human rights law regarding the Palestinians people right to sovereignty and statehood.  Maybe they’ll find a mattress. Maybe they’ll sleep on the ground. Maybe aid will come soon.

Maybe grass roots education will be strong enough to overcome the Western Media’s dehumanisation of Palestinian people, and Western media’s blindness to a genocide, and Westerns media’s absolving off crimes against humanity, and Western media’s exoneration of violent war criminals and Western media’s failure to be able to imagine an end to occupation. Maybe grass roots education will fill the gaps made by Western media’s failure to imagine anything other than a world in which hundreds of thousands of people have to die in order to allow billionaires to carve up their country with steak knives.  They didn’t make their billions by not being stingy the billionaires state again, walking over the bodies, stepping on our hearts and souls for the promise of a free steak knife, sharpened with blood.
